The Lucy Ball 2017 raises £10 500

Thank you Helen and Tim for all your hard work organising the wonderful Lucy Ball 2017 held at the Boxmoor Lodge Hotel, Hemel Hempstead on 14th October.

Everyone had a fantastic time and the tremendous sum of £10 500 was raised through ticket sales, a raffle and auction.

Tim writes:-

Helen and I had the great pleasure of organising the second Lucy Ball in October. We had promised a fun-filled evening, we hope our 120 guests were not disappointed!

Most of our guests were met by Mark, our waiter with a difference. People were asking “where on earth did you get him from?” as he kept falling over, spilling drinks and asking for help to a chair. My favourite was when he grabbed my brother’s bags and showed him up to his hotel room where he  (helpfully) explained that the room had a bed, a wardrobe and….a toilet!  Gradually people cottoned on that it was all an act especially when he led the singing and dancing between courses!

The evening started with welcome drinks followed by a three course meal during which Ian, our fabulous magician passed round the tables performing his wonderful conjuring tricks. Our singer, Maxine, meanwhile provided a lovely backing to the meal. Our wonderful helpers also passed among the tables selling raffle tickets, that sold well, and vodka jellies that sold really well!

The wonderful Lucy team, Charlotte, Nicola and Steve all said a few words about the charity and the fantastic work it does. Nicola in particular brought a few tears to people’s eyes!

The formal part of the evening was rounded off with the raffle and an amazing auction.

Then it was dancing with Gary our DJ and one further surprise as a photo-both appeared from nowhere and all our guests were able to make photographic fools of themselves as they dressed up in daft costumes – all thanks to Lee!

The evening raised an incredible £10,500 and we are so grateful to all our guests, our super helpers (Leah, Lisa, Charlie, Sam and Adi), the entertainers, the Lucy team, the Boxmoor Lodge team and the generosity of all those that gave us prizes for the raffle and auction.

Shall we do it all again next year.? You bet we will. The date is 29th September, the venue is again Boxmoor Lodge in Hemel Hempstead. The entertainment is all booked and we promise a few more surprises! See you there.
