Briggs Equipment

Vote for Lucy Air Ambulance for Children to be your Charity of the Year!

Hello to everyone at Briggs Equipment UK! We are so excited to have been shortlisted as your charity of the year for 2022! If you’re visiting this page then you probably want to know a little bit more about us, so here we are…

What we do

Due to current funding we are only able to fly 2 out of every 4 children that need our service. By voting for Lucy Air Ambulance for Children YOU can help us reach every child that needs us. Lucy Air Ambulance for Children (Lucy AAC) is the only charity in the UK that flies children to hospital by aeroplane. The NHS has no budget for air transfers and relies on Lucy AAC to provide this essential service at no cost. By voting for Lucy Air Ambulance for Children to become Briggs Equipment UK's Charity of the Year you can help us ensure children are able to access essential medical care regardless of distance.

Getting children to the hospital they need

Our transfers mean that:

  • Children can access life-saving specialist care and surgery, including organ transplants.
  • Premature babies can be moved in our incubator to receive neonatal care close to home.
  • Children who are nearing end of life can be taken to a hospital/hospice closer to home.
  • Families are reunited and parent’s mental health improves.
Any parent with a seriously ill child just wants their child to get better. We make sure they are in the right place, to get the right treatment, at the right time.

"If someone were to ask me to sum up Lucy Air Ambulance for Children, I would say LIFE-SAVING. After 21 months as an inpatient we were finally allowed to bring Jackson home. Without a doubt, this would not have been possible without Lucy AAC’s intervention. They saved my son’s life and gave me my family back. The continued support that we get from Lucy AAC continues to surprise us. The Lucy AAC team have genuine compassion for the families they support. We will forever be thankful to Lucy AAC.”
- Debbie, Jackson's Mum

Why Lucy and Briggs Equipment?

  • You will know that YOU matter. Without your support there will be children who won’t be able to access an air transfer that they need.
  • We are a small charity that needs funding and we will place YOU at the heart of all we do.
  • YOU will be the difference and YOU will save lives.
  • We will have fun together in a time when we all need to reconnect.

We are happy to arrange for some of our parents, doctors and/or medical staff to come in and talk to the Team at Briggs Equipment UK about our service so that you can see first-hand why our children need your support.

"Lucy Air Ambulance provides funding and support that enables some of the tiniest and most vulnerable patients to be transferred to another hospital when a road ambulance would take too long or be too stressful for them. This may be for specialist or emergency treatment, or more often for continuation of their care at a unit closer to home. Reuniting a family at their local hospital means that parents have their support network around them, can go to work, and siblings can attend school. Sometimes these flights are lifesaving, but they are always life-changing for the patient and their family. I cannot thank Lucy AAC enough for their passion and dedication to these unique patients and their families."
- Dr Lee Collier, Neonatal Doctor

When you join #TeamLucy you become part of our family

There are lots of ways the team at Briggs Equipment UK can get involved with Lucy AAC and we’ll keep you updated quarterly on how your fundraising and volunteering are helping us reach every child that needs us!

Plane pull

The ultimate team building activity challenge... why not limber up and get ready to pull one of our air ambulances!

Annual Family Fun Days

Every year we host two days filled with fun for all the family. Why not volunteer on some of our fete stalls on the day? Last year our summer Family Fun Day was attended by 600 people and would not have been possible without our wonderful volunteers generously giving their time in a variety of volunteer roles.

The 60 (or 90) Minute Dash

The ultimate team builder! Form teams and go on a treasure hunt to find as many obscure items as you can in 60 (or 90) minutes! Can you find a statue that is bigger than yourself? A purple door? The number 1901? It is great fun; believe us we have done it!

Volunteering

As a small charity of just four staff, we are always in need of volunteers. Without volunteers we can’t run our own events – from manning our Lucy BBQ stand at our two annual fundraising family fun days, to taking photographs at our medical team training days – we need your help!

PLUS traditional activities and events...

Mass participation run/walk/cycle events, obstacle course races, skydives, fun runs, Christmas events and much more.

Your support will transform a child's life
