Our first transfer of 2018 has landed safely

Our first transfer of 2018 has landed safely and is being cared for at the Russells Hall Hospital Neonatal Unit.

Our tiny passenger arrived prematurely at 29 weeks on Christmas Day, over 150 miles from home. His mum and dad had been celebrating Christmas with relatives in Kent when he made an early appearance just after lunch.

Being born so early meant weeks, and potentially months, of ongoing care were essential to his development and health. It looked like his parents, along with his two older brothers who are 7 and 10, would have be grounded in Kent to accommodate his crucial neonatal care.

However, at only 11 days old we were able to transfer him from the local hospital in Kent to Russells Hall Hospital near their home in Dudley, where he is currently receiving the care he needs. His parents and siblings travelled home by car to meet the newest member of the family at the hospital near their home.

Mum says:

I’m so glad to be home. I can’t wait to get back to normal. Our two older boys can go back to school, my husband can go back to work, and we can concentrate on our newborn’s care.
